The Lake Beulah Sailing School (LBSS) hosted the 18th annual Beulah Optimist Regatta on June 28, 2010. Under clear blue skies and warm temperatures, fifty two skippers took to the water to compete in either the Championship or Green Fleet. Pewaukee's Augie Dale took first place honors in the Championship Fleet of 35 entries. Augie Dale, a Red Fleeter in a borrowed boat, sailed strongly in the northwesterly 10 to 15 knot breezes.  Finishing second was Lake Beulah’s Brooke Komas, a Blue Fleeter. Lake Geneva's Nathan Freytag, another Red Fleeter, finished third overall. Henry Chapman of Nagawicka and Alec Bischoff of Beulah finished 4thAugie_Dale_RWB_Champ_Medium_Web_view and 5th, respectively.  The Red, Blue, and White Fleets were won by Dale, Komas, and Chapman, respectively.

Other Beulah sailors finishing in the top 10 included Alec Bischoff, John Barr, and Mary Berg who placed 5th, 6th, and 8th, respectively. Brooke also won the Blue fleet, followed by Bischoff 3rd, Berg 4th, and Gregory Westin 5th. Barr led the Beulah sailors in the White fleet, finishing 2nd ahead of Alex Keck 4th, Patrick Schmidt 5th, Erin Sulllivan 6th, Eric Komas 7th, Caroline Skotarzak 9th and Nora Kiernan 10th, John Berg 11th, Ryan Komas 13th, and Brigit Barr 14th. Kent Haeger performed the PRO duties on the Championship course, supported by his brother Matt and by Jim Kutschenreuter. Instructors Joe Kutschenreuter and Will Haeger provided coaching during the event. Four races were completed.

Taitan_Workman_Green_Champ_Medium_Web_viewElsewhere on the Green Fleet course, Workman sailed a strong consistent regatta with two 1sts, a 2nd, a 4th, and a 5th.  He was chased by Kyle Navin, Josh Navin, and Jacob Stout in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, respectively.  Four young Beulah ladies competed led by Jacqueline Komas who finished 5th.  She was followed in the standings by Jada Boykin in 9th, Annie Cate Schmidt 12th, and Elizabeth Riforgiate 14th. Five races were completed.  Jeff Hudson performed the PRO duties, supported by Gabrielle Bui and Neal Klement. Sarah Riforgiate scored for both RWB and Green Fleets. Thank you to all who volunteered!
